Every source your books run on, connected once, then left alone.
Banks and cards, the processors that actually take the money, your store, your payroll, and the pile of receipts. They arrive here already understood: a payout split into what you sold, what tax you owe and what the processor kept, not one lump sum landing in a bank account for you to explain later.
Each card below says which kind of connection it is. Some sync themselves. One is a file you download after payroll. Pretending those are the same thing is how you find out in March that nothing was importing.
Around 10,000 US institutions
Bank and credit-card feeds come through Plaid, which reaches roughly ten thousand US banks and credit unions. You sign in on your bank's own screen inside Plaid's window. Neo-Capital never sees the password, and no banking credential is stored on our side.
On Online, Plaid's per-bank bill is ours rather than yours. If your bank sits on SimpleFIN's bridge instead, or you'd simply rather own the connection, a book can run both.
Plaid
Included with your planLink your bank in a couple of clicks. Around 10,000 US institutions.
- You sign in at your bank's own screen, inside Plaid's window. Neo-Capital never sees the password and no banking credential is stored here.
- Each account links to one of yours with a start date, so switching a feed on over statements you already imported can't duplicate the overlap.
- Transactions arrive every few hours into review. Nothing posts to the ledger until you've looked at it.
- Plaid bills per linked bank per month. On Online that bill is ours, not yours.
SimpleFIN
Connect once, syncs itselfA second bank route, bought direct for about $15 a year.
- Some banks sit on SimpleFIN's bridge and not on Plaid, and some people would simply rather own the connection themselves.
- A book can run both. Use whichever reaches your bank.
A payout is not revenue, and we book it that way
This is the part most software gets wrong. A Shopify or Stripe payout is gross sales minus fees minus refunds, with sales tax you are holding for someone else buried inside it. Booked as one deposit, your revenue is overstated, your tax liability is invisible and your fees are never deducted. Every connector here decomposes onto a clearing account that nets to zero per payout, and the net deposit is matched to the one your bank shows, so the cash is counted exactly once.
Shopify
Connect once, syncs itselfPayouts split into sales, tax and fees, automatically.
- Every payout arrives decomposed: gross sales to revenue, sales tax to the liability you owe, the processor's fee to a deductible expense.
- The net deposit is matched against the one your bank shows, so the money is counted once instead of twice.
- This is the job people pay Synder and A2X $50–100 a month to do.
Stripe
Connect once, syncs itselfCharges, refunds and fees, as three lines instead of one.
- A payout is not revenue: it is revenue minus fees minus refunds. Neo-Capital books all three, so your P&L shows what you actually sold.
- A restricted, read-only key is all it takes, and you can revoke it from your Stripe dashboard at any moment.
Square
Connect once, syncs itselfCard, cash and gift-card takings, told apart properly.
- Same decomposition as Stripe, with the tender types kept separate. Cash in the drawer is not a card settlement and shouldn't land in the same account.
- Processing fees post to their own expense account, where your accountant expects to find them.
PayPal
Connect once, syncs itselfThree years of history, with the fee on every line.
- PayPal's API will hand back three years of transactions, so a mid-year switch doesn't leave a hole behind it.
- Every line carries its fee, which is the number that quietly disappears when a PayPal balance is reconciled by hand.
Mapped by you, not guessed at by us
Payroll is the one place a wrong guess is expensive and slow to find. So this is deliberately notan API sync: Gusto's own General Ledger Mapper is free, does the mapping on their side against a chart of accounts you upload once, and hands you a file that is already coded to your accounts. We read it as one journal entry and show you every line before anything posts.
Gusto
Mapped file importPayroll posted as one journal entry, mapped to your own accounts.
- Gusto's own General Ledger Mapper is free and does the mapping on their side, against a chart of accounts you upload once, so payroll arrives coded by you, not guessed at by us.
- Wages, employer taxes, benefits, deductions and net pay all come through, and can split by job, department or project. Contractor payments export the same way.
- Debits must equal credits to the cent and every account must resolve. If either fails, the import refuses and posts nothing.
Files and receipts
No connection requiredAnything you can export, Neo-Capital can read.
- Bank and card CSVs, processor exports and QuickBooks data import directly. The columns are detected rather than demanded.
- Photograph a receipt and it is read, matched to the transaction it belongs to, and attached to it. On the phone that is the whole workflow.
- Every import previews before it posts, and re-importing the same file does not double anything: rows carry a fingerprint.
Connect the assistant you already pay for
Neo-Capital speaks MCP, so your own Claude or ChatGPT can talk to your books directly. You authorise it once from a consent screen that tells you exactly what it will be able to read, and you can end it whenever you like. Reading documents tries the PDF's own text layer first, then a local OCR engine that costs nothing; a model is the third rung, for what the first two couldn't make out.
Claude · OpenAI · Gemini
Optional: your own keyOptional: one key, for reading the dimmest receipts.
- Document reading tries the PDF's own text layer first, then a local OCR engine that costs nothing and needs no account. A model is the third rung, and only for what the first two couldn't read.
- Online you don't need a key at all to ask questions of your books. Your own Claude or ChatGPT connects to Neo-Capital instead.
Three things we make ourselves
Everything above is somebody else's service. These are ours, which means they are the only ones whose behaviour we can actually promise.
Neo-Capital AI
From $19/moThe bulk work (categorising, matching, hunting deductions) on our key.
- No API key to find, no provider account to open. Credits come with the tier: 200 on AI ($19), 600 on AI Growth ($49), 1,800 on AI Firm ($129).
- Run out mid-month? A one-time Credit Pack adds 500 credits for $49, no plan change and no renewal. Packs never expire.
- Big jobs run as JOBS, not as chat. A sweep over thousands of rows is batched, which is the difference between cents and hundreds of dollars, so the price can be a subscription rather than a meter you fear.
- Everything it proposes is a card you approve. Nothing posts to your ledger because a model suggested it.
Neo-Capital Email
IncludedInvoices, statements and receipts sent from inside the books.
- The invoice PDF is attached and, when Get Paid is connected, the pay link is in the body: an invoice somebody can settle from their inbox.
- Statements go out in a run; estimates, sales receipts and payment receipts send the same way.
- Mail is sent by us with your business name on it and your own address in Reply-To, so it passes SPF and DKIM instead of landing in spam. Replies come to you.
Neo-Capital Ads
$29/moFacebook and Instagram spend, sitting next to the sales it bought.
- Campaigns, ad sets and creative in one place, with daily spend posted into the books as the expense it is, not reconciled from a card statement three weeks later.
- Rules autopilot pauses and scales on conditions you set, and every automatic action is logged and reversible.
- It runs on a separate agent from the books Assistant, on purpose: the Assistant has no network egress, and Ads does. Keeping them apart is what keeps that guarantee true.
What these connections deliberately don't do
Nobody in this category publishes this section. It is here for the same reason the security page carries its narrower answers: a capability list you can't check is worth less than a shorter one you can.
- Nothing is written back.
- Every connector reads. Neo-Capital will not change a price in your store, refund a charge, or touch a payroll run. Your books are downstream of those systems and stay there.
- Nothing posts to the ledger on its own.
- Imports and syncs land in review. You see the rows, and the entries they would create, before any of it becomes part of your books, including anything an AI proposed.
- We don't hold your credentials on our servers.
- Connector tokens live in your book's own sealed credential store, not in our database. On desktop they never leave your machine at all.
- Not every connection is a sync, and the card says which.
- Gusto is a mapped file you download after each payroll. It is on this page as a file import because that is what it is.
- Google Ads isn't here.
- It needs a hand-approved developer token, so it can't be built the way Meta's was. Google spend is entered as a cost instead. When that changes, it gets a card.
Don't see yours?
Most banks are reachable through Plaid or SimpleFIN, and anything that exports a CSV imports here without a connector at all. If something you rely on is missing, tell us. The list above is the one we work from.
